Buddhist Philosopher & Meditation Teacher
David Marks
Meet David Marks
David is a dedicated meditation teacher and former Tibetan Buddhist monk who guides seekers on the path of awakening through grounded, experiential practice. His journey began in Melbourne, Australia, but it was his travels across South East Asia and the Indian subcontinent that first stirred his deep interest in Eastern spirituality. After returning home and immersing himself in Buddhist studies, David was ordained in Kathmandu in 1981, beginning three transformative decades as a monk. His path took him from the study halls of Nalanda Monastery in France to teaching roles at renowned centers like Kopan Monastery, Tushita Meditation Centre, and the Root Institute for Wisdom Culture. Whether leading students in philosophy or meditation, David’s approach has always been rooted in clarity, compassion, and presence. After 30 years in robes, David transitioned back to lay life in 2012 but his commitment to inner transformation remains unwavering. Today, he shares practices that help others cultivate mindfulness, insight, and peace, drawing from a lifetime of authentic experience on the path.
